Tropical Depression Fourteen forms over Caribbean Sea, 1 of 3 Atlantic systems being tracked - ABC Action News

Tropical Depression Fourteen formed Thursday morning over the Caribbean Sea, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

In a 2 p.m. update, NHC said the system is 210 miles east of Cabo Gracias a Dios on the Nicaragua/Honduras border.

The system is moving at 18 mph W with 35 mph maximum sustained winds.

NHC said the system is expected to develop into a tropical storm later in the day on Thursday or Thursday night. The system could be near or at hurricane strength when it reaches the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico late Saturday, NHC said.

The system is one of three currently being tracked by the NHC, which includes Tropical Depression Thirteen which formed on Wednesday night and is also expected to become a tropical storm on Thursday.

The third system being watched is a tropical wave over western Africa that has a low, 20% chance of developing over the next two days and a medium, 40% chance of developing over the next five days.
